It really is difficult for Elsa to get close to anyone because she really does enjoy being around people who care about her enough to try to help her. But at the same time it makes he realize just how cold she is – how terrible she acts and how awful she makes people feel. It makes her realize how alone she is. And if she really can learn how to control her powers it makes her think about how much of her life she has wasted trying to keep people safe from her.
Going from numb to everything to feeling is a very difficult emotional transition and as Elsa’s powers are about 90% emotional state the beginning of any kind of relationship, friendship or romantic, is very rocky for her. It’s actually relatively easy to calm her down. One really only needs to give her space and stay. She’s apt to yelling and throwing a fit about it because she really does believe she’ll end up hurting them. If you end up trying to get close to her when she’s having a mini-meltdown, you will probably end up like Anna did in Frozen. She just needs to work through her emotions and you being there but not approaching her is the best thing you can do.
But if someone sticks with her, she could figure it all out. She’s just terrified of hurting people.
