He grabbed her hand and let himself be pulled upright, the same smirk that she was wearing on his lips as he lightly came into a stand. He’d be studying to become a Broadway actor after all. Always a little grace. “I’m Hans.”

He gestured around the room, towards the pretentious buffet, the party lights that kept flickering to a rhythm that was completely unlike the one of the artsy jazz music that was playing in the background and back at himself. “You know my family name.”

Rude. But most rich people were. Scratch that, most people were. Herself included. She made minimal efforts at kindness. Though a little amused by his name, Elsa said nothing. It wasn’t like she had any room to poke fun at odd names.

She did follow. If only because she had nothing better to do. But she was quick to make sure that she walked at his side, not behind him. She wasn’t about to be led around. “You were waiting for someone to pick you up? You do know it’s supposed to be the other way around. What, did no one there catch your eye?”

Or perhaps he’d been too deep in his bored stupor to even think about it. “I suppose as your family is hosting, without being invited to leave it would be rude to do so.”
